There was some belief that former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase would be a front-runner for the Cleveland Browns' head coaching gig, but the Browns currently have no plans to interview Gase, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.

Gase is slated to interview with the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday, and he also has interviews set up with two other teams. The Dolphins fired the 40-year-old after he went 23-25 in three seasons in Miami.

If the Browns truly aren't going to chase after Gase, it comes as somewhat of a surprise. Owner Jimmy Haslam has gone after Gase in the last two coaching searches, and Peyton Manning has recommended Gase to Haslam. Manning played for Gase with the Denver Broncos and had a record-breaking season in 2013.

Gase and quarterback Baker Mayfield reportedly also have a good relationship.

Cleveland is looking for a full-time coach after a 7-8-1 season. The Browns fired Hue Jackson midseason before Gregg Williams went 5-3 to finish out the year. Williams is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy and interviewed Tuesday.

Cleveland has already lined up a number of other interviews. Notably, the Browns have reached out to former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
