It’s now close to two months since the Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Dez Bryant. The veteran wideout has yet to sign on with a new team and is reportedly unlikely to do so until the start of training camp.

In light of Bryant still being on the open market, Hall of Famer and former Cowboy Deion Sanders has suggested that Dallas move to bring back their former wideout:

“Let's just apologize and say, ‘Dez, I'm sorry. I made a mistake. Come on back,'” Sanders said on 105.3 The Fan. “You didn't know Jason Witten was getting ready to [retire]. You didn't know this knucklehead [Terrance Williams] was getting ready to do what he did [when he] got out of the car and [ran] out of the Lamborghini. Who leaves the scene of a crime with a Lamborghini? Let bygones be bygones, bring the dude back and let's move on.”

Aside from the Baltimore Ravens, there doesn’t seem to be another team who has had serious interest in signing Bryant. On the other hand, Dez has been doing his best to make his preferred destinations known (i.e. the other NFC East teams and the 49ers).

It would certainly make some sense for both parties to simply reunite. The Cowboys haven’t adequately replaced Bryant at wide receiver and now have the loss of Witten (and potentially Williams) to deal with. As for Bryant, a return to Dallas is probably the best option he has at the moment. He’ll likely get the No. 1 role back, which is a plus. The Cowboys also have $11.4 million in cap space, so they can offer him a lot more than the minimum.

But despite Primetime’s suggestion, it doesn’t appear that a Dez-Dallas reunion is coming anytime soon. Bryant burned some bridges on his way out, particularly with head coach Jason Garrett and his “guys.” Jerry Jones has also previously come out and said there's “no chance” of Dez returning. So even with the Cowboys' need for another top wideout, it seems unlikely that they suddenly turn to Bryant.
