Defensive end Micah Parsons made his first return to AT&T Stadium on Sunday since being traded by the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers, a move that ended a long-standing saga that got uglier by the day.
Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones failed to find a compromise regarding a larger contract extension. It led to Parsons demanding a trade, which the team granted, reaching a deal with the Packers.
Before the two teams faced off, Jones was interviewed during the pregame show on NBC. As expected, he was asked about Parsons' return as the four-time Pro Bowler was entering the field. Jones maintained his optimism about parting ways with the 26-year-old Parsons.
“Of course, I've seen him trot, I've seen him run out like that for four straight years. The green and gold is a problem for me, looking at it. But I have to think about the kinds of consideration that we got on the trade. That's the way I've always done it,” said the controversial owner in the video posted by Awful Announcing.

In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys received defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027. The 82-year-old Jones believed that it was a fair deal, even though most critics begged to differ.
He also compared Parsons' return to Dallas when the Cowboys shipped superstar Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings in 1989 and when running back Emmitt Smith signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2004.
“You know, my personal feeling about great players, consequently, when you hear the crowd and you see that player come back, it reminds me of when we played Herschel Walker or when Emmitt Smith came back. They get a great ovation,” said Jones.
As of writing, the Cowboys are ahead, 16-13, at halftime.
