Since being selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Earl Thomas has been one of the most dominant safeties in the NFL. Alongside Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, the six-time Pro Bowler led the Legion of Boom as Seattle boasted one of the most physically imposing defenses in modern NFL history.
Now, five years removed from winning a Super Bowl while becoming a budding dynasty, Thomas is the only remaining piece of that once vaunted secondary, and as the 2018 season approaches, it looks more and more like he'll be out the door soon too.
Thomas is currently holding out from training camp after the franchise reportedly decline discussing his contract concerns, and ESPN's Adam Schefter stated that the safety is preparing to extend his absence into the regular season.
As Thomas' relationship with the Seahawks grows more tenuous by the day, speculation of a trade to the Dallas Cowboys continues to grow. ESPN insiders Brady Henderson and Todd Archer both predict that's precisely what will happen.

Archer: Somehow, he'll be a Cowboy at some point.
Thomas is currently in the final campaign of his four-year, $40 million. At the time of its signing, the contract made him the highest paid safety in the NFL, but now he's the sixth.
At age 29, the Texas product still has a few great years left in him as long as he stays healthy. After not missing a game his first six seasons in the league, Thomas missed five with a broken tibia in 2016 and two with a hamstring injury in 2017.
Dallas discussed a trade for Thomas during the NFL Draft but were unwilling to give up a second-round pick. Seattle's asking price reportedly remains high, but the closer Week 1 gets, the more likely both sides will find middle ground and ultimately reach a deal to make Thomas a Cowboy.
