Chris Harris Jr. recently ended his two-month-long offseason holdout when he agreed to a minor extension to return to the Denver Broncos. While the money is nice, Harris said he had other motives for returning, including the chance to increase his legacy with the team.

During a sitdown interview Denver’s 9News last week, Harris said his goal is to end up in the Broncos rafters, and have his jersey retired with the team.

“Oh yeah, it definitely matters,” Harris said. “I definitely want to be in the rafters when I’m done here. I know the fans wanted me here, my family wanted me here. It just made sense to go out here and do whatever I can to prove it that I want to retire here.”

After agreeing to a new one-year deal worth $12.05 million, Harris is ready to help lead a Broncos defensive unit that is looking to return to its former glory. With new head coach Vic Fangio behind the wheel, though, Harris sees things going very well.

“He just has an answer for everything,” Harris said of Fangio. “He likes to rotate the hard down. Instead of being the hard down on me every play of the game.”

As the Broncos begin offseason work this week with minicamps, Harris can begin putting the past couple of months behind him. Now that he has agreed to a new deal, the Broncos are hoping that Harris continues to provide the type of security he has been known to offer, leading the Broncos back into the playoffs.
