While that is enticing, there shouldn't really be any bad blood between both sides. Last offseason, Gordon chose to holdout during training camp in hopes to land an extension with the Chargers. Ahead of the regular season, Los Angeles reportedly offered Gordon a contract that would pay him $10 million annually.
Despite the offer being enough to make him one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL, Gordon rejected the offer. He then sat out the first month of the 2019 season. Now, Gordon is making less money to play for a rival of his former team.
While Gordon heads to the Broncos, it remains to be seen who the mysterious team is that offered him more money. At the least, the Wisconsin product is the fourth highest-paid running back in the NFL. He also has a chance to earn himself another payday in two years.
