Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris’ agent and general manager John Elway have apparently talked directly regarding the Pro Bowler’s contract situation, per Mike Klis of 9NEWS.com.
Harris has made it clear that he would like a new deal worth over $15 million per year. And if the Broncos don’t give it to him, he would like to be traded.
But as Klis reports, the Broncos do not have any intention of trading Harris. There was one team that had an interest in trading for Harris prior to the draft, but they pulled out.
The team is expected to present a counteroffer to Harris next week, although it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to give Harris the massive number he is seeking.

Harris is in the final year of what a five-year, $42.5 million contract extension he signed in December 2014. He’s currently scheduled to make $7.8 million in 2019 after the team picked up his $1 million option bonus in March.
Harris has already sat out the entirety of the voluntary portion of the team’s offseason workouts. And if things continue to be deadlocked on the negotiating table, there’s a good chance that he won’t show up for the mandatory workouts as well in order to pressure the Broncos into a trade.
The good news for Broncos fans is at least the two sides are still talking, so there remains a chance that a deal can be struck. But as things stand, this saga doesn't appear as if it'll end anytime soon.
