Reports came out this week suggesting that the NFL still could punish Aqib Talib for accidentally shooting himself in the offseason. Officials confirmed that the case is still being discussed in the league's office.

The Broncos cornerback opposite of Talib doesn't understand how the NFL can punish Aqib when law enforcement determined not to. The police concluded that the injury was self-inflicted, and no charges were made.
The NFL doesn't need charges to be pressed to inflict their own, though. Of course, we've also seen players involved negatively with the law who haven't received any repercussions from the league.
Article Continues BelowBut, the NFL has been obsessed with its own image lately, and they're enforcing their personal conduct policy more than ever. The fact that Talib became so intoxicated that he accidentally shot himself might qualify for violating that policy.
Talib hasn't spoken on the matter, but Harris stood up for his teammate on Wednesday. From Cameron Wolfe of The Denver Post:
“It’s a weird situation. You never know what’s going to happen. You never know what the NFL is going to do. How can you punish him when he didn’t go to jail? He didn’t do anything wrong. Apparently, it’s not bothering him at all. So, if it’s not bothering him it’s not going to bother us. Keep it rolling.”
