Now here’s a guy who thinks that the Detroit Lions is going to the Super Bowl in the near future. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, NBC football analyst Cris Collinsworth believes that the Lions are going to reach the biggest stage of football soon.
“I just think the Lions at some point are going to make it happen,” Collinsworth said. “They have too much talent there to not.”
Asked what “make it happen” means, Collinsworth said, “Be in this thing.”
How soon?
“I don’t know,” he said. “We’ll see what old Matty can do.”
While Cris Collinsworth did not mention it, his projection for the Lions could be attributed to his confidence in the abilities of Matt Patricia. Patricia, the current defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, is expected to be hired by the Lions as their new head coach once the Super Bowl LII is over.

The Lions failed to reach the playoffs this season, but will head to the next with a promising cast on both ends of the field. The offense has a solid quarterback in Matthew Stafford and talented receivers in Golden State, Marvin Jones, and Kenny Golladay. On defense, the Lions have the likes of cornerback Darius Slay and safety Glover Quin.
The Lions are one of the only four NFL franchises that have yet to appear in a Super Bowl game. The other three are the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
