Matthew Stafford was forced to sit out of practice with the Detroit Lions with a back injury for the second time this season. Despite missing Wednesday's practice, Stafford was straightforward on his response on whether or not that his current injury is connected to his previous one.
“No,” Stafford said when asked his latest injury is related to the one that had him listed as questionable for the Chiefs game. “I’m fine. I’ll be good to go. I’m not really worried about it. Something different, but I’m totally good.”
Since Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Stafford has made an appearance on the injury report with a back ailment. However, the veteran signal-caller has yet to actually miss a game due to the back injury.
Article Continues BelowStafford has started in 136 straights games, which is second among active quarterbacks in the NFL. The only quarterback who is ahead of him is Philip Rivers, who has started in 217 consecutive games for the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Lions' franchise quarterback has been dealing with the back injury, but it hasn't shown any signs of slowing him down. Through the first nine weeks, Stafford is having arguably the best year of his 11-year career. Stafford has thrown for 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions so far.
In light of that, Stafford is on pace to lead the NFL in passing yards with 4,998 yards and is also projected to throw for 38 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The gunslinging quarterback will look to continue his momentum against the Chicago Bears in Week 10.
