While everyone is understandably clamoring over Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson, Matthew Stafford is quietly having a remarkable season for the Detroit Lions. Through the first nine weeks, Stafford is on pace to lead the NFL in passing yards this season.

Stafford is arguably having the best season of his career so far with 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions thus far. Altogether, the Lions' veteran signal-caller is on pace to throw for 4,998 yards, 38 touchdowns, and 1o interceptions.

Despite Stafford performing well in Darrell Bevell's first year as the offensive coordinator, he is being asked to do a lot due to the defense being near the bottom of the league in just about every category. Nevertheless, Stafford shouldn't warrant any of the blame for the Lions being 3-4-1.

Surprisingly enough, Stafford has never led the NFL in passing yards during his 11-year career. As of now, there's a decent chance that he ends that in 2019, especially if the defense continues to allow an excessive amount of points to their opponents.

Stafford's career-high of passing yards in a season is 5,038 yards when he did so in 2011. The Georgia product repeated that by airing it out for 4,967 yards in 2012 for the Lions.

As underrated as Stafford has been over his career, he has never won a playoff game. Even though, that could be due to the supporting cast that has been put around the talented quarterback over his career.

It is very likely that Stafford won't get a chance to play in his fourth postseason game in 2019. With that being said, Stafford could still show his worth by leading the entire NFL in passing yards.
