It appears as though the Detroit Lions have made yet another coaching change, something that the middle-of-the-pack franchise has done on a regular basis as of late. According to a Tuesday evening report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the NFC North franchise will now be hiring Sean Ryan as the team's next quarterbacks coach.
Ryan is notably replacing George Godsey in such a role for the Lions while the Detroit newcomer will be making his way to the “Motor City” from the Houston Texans. Ryan served as Houston's quarterbacks coach for the last several seasons. It is also worth noting that the Lions have wasted absolutely no time in replacing the aforementioned Godsey, who is reportedly well on his way to becoming the Miami Dolphins tight ends coach.

As for Ryan, the 46-year-old remained in Houston from 2016-17 while initially serving as the Texans wide receivers coach before ultimately pivoting to lead the quarterbacks — and most notably mentoring former first round NFL Draft pick Deshaun Watson. Prior to his lengthy stint in Houston, Ryan originally broke into the NFL coaching ranks as a member of the New York Giants coaching staff back in 2007. First an offensive quality control coach for the Giants, the New York native then served as the NFC East franchise's wide receivers coach and quarterbacks coach between 2010 and 2015.
With Ryan now seemingly on board in Detroit, the Lions will be looking to majorly rebound come the 2019-20 campaign while still under the direction of second-year NFL head coach Matt Patricia.
