After taking the football world by complete surprise on Thursday and signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams, Odell Beckham Jr. has put the team in the driver's seat to win this year's Super Bowl. It came as a major development considering the Green Bay Packers looked like the frontrunners to sign him just a few hours earlier.
Now that OBJ has taken his talents to the bright lights of Hollywood, the Packers will have to look elsewhere for an additional deep threat. This comes as a huge blow to the Packers as they were hoping to pair Davante Adams with another Pro Bowl-caliber receiver.
With things taking place so rapidly, let's discuss the two reasons Beckham should have chosen to sign with the Packers instead of the Rams.
Odell Beckham Jr. and Davante Adams would've formed the best receiving duo in the NFL
Now that Robert Tonyan is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, this will put more pressure on Adams to carry the offensive load in the Packers' passing game. The addition of Beckham would've been a huge upgrade to their aerial assault and gave the Packers the best receiving duo in the NFL.
Between Aaron Rodgers' deep arm threat and mobility, Aaron Jones making his case as a top-three running back, and a one-two punch of Beckham and Adams at receiver, the Packers would've been the biggest threat to dethroning the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Super Bowl champions. On the Packers, OBJ would have been a major factor in their passing game and elevated the offense to the next level.

Even though Stafford has been a major upgrade from Jared Goff and is unquestionably playing like an MVP candidate this season, joining the Packers would've been the more logical move for Beckham to make. Mainly due to the fact that Rodgers is a Super Bowl champion, NFL MVP, and one of the greatest playmakers in history. His pocket presence is second to none and he would be able to resurrect Beckham's career and get him back on the right track.
Plus, the two Pro Bowl talents would form a lethal quarterback/receiver pairing that would be a nightmare for opposing secondaries. Not to mention the dynamic play of Adams and Jones would give the Packers a ton of depth on the offense. With Rodgers as his quarterback, OBJ could see more touches and fill a major gap in the offense. With the Rams, on the other hand, he'll have a lesser role and won't get as many passes thrown his way. Despite the fact that he'll be playing in a pass-heavy offense with the Rams, he still won't be one of their go-to guys. Instead, he'll just be another deep threat that adds depth to their explosive offensive attack.
Something else to consider is that Rodgers has proven himself as one of the greatest pressure players the game has ever seen, whereas Stafford has not seen as much success in the few times he's been to the postseason. Had Beckham chose to sign with the Packers, he would've had the chance to chase multiple rings while getting more receptions and having a stronger impact on the offensive end for the squad.
