The Green Bay Packers enter the 2022 NFL offseason amid a mountain of disappointment facing uncertainty. The Packers, for the second straight year finished the regular season atop the NFC and earned home-field advantage. In 2020, they lost to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who ended up winning the Super Bowl. There's nothing to hang your hat on there. But this year, it got worse. They looked even more dominant during the regular season, only to lose to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

There have been rumors and speculation that quarterback Aaron Rodgers has played his final snaps in a Packers uniform. He has done little to squash the rumors either. The franchise is facing serious financial decisions. Currently, Green Bay is approximately $40 million over the salary cap, and that does not include resigning any key free agents.

There are some serious decisions that need to be made for the Packers to stay in title contention. Here are 3 moves Green Bay must make this offseason.

3 Moves Packers Must Make This Offseason

3. Secure Aaron Rodgers' future

This one should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway. With Aaron Rodgers as quarterback, Green Bay wins the NFC North by default. Without him, it could be a crap shoot. They need to do whatever it takes to keep Rodgers at the helm.

On Thursday, the Packers did a wise thing and hired Tom Clements as their quarterbacks coach.

Clements and Rodgers have a close relationship. Clements worked as part of Green Bay's offensive coaching staff from 2006 through 2016. That includes Rodgers' only Super Bowl championship in February of 2011.

2. Re-Sign Davante Adams

This one is not going to be easy. The Packers, as I mentioned, are already $40 million over the cap. Adams is set to be an unrestricted free agent. He is coming off another All-Pro season where he put up career numbers, 123 catches for 1,553 yards. He also brought down 11 receiving touchdowns.

But it is very clear that Rodgers trusts Adams completely. It will likely be hard to get Aaron Rodgers to agree to stay next season if they cannot guarantee Adams is with him. Their connection on the field is stuff of legend. Rarely ever do you see a quarterback and wide receiver in sync as much as these two.

1. Rebuild the offensive line

For most of Rodgers' career, the Packers defense could not hold up their end of the bargain. In 2021, Aaron Rodgers played with arguably the best defense he has ever had. Yet, the postseason outcome was all too familiar. In divisional round loss to the 49ers, Green Bay's defense played outstanding. It was Rodgers and the offense that let them down.

A lot of that was due to the inability of the offensive line to keep San Francisco's pass rush at bay. Nick Bosa and Fred Warner wreaked havoc throughout the game, both against the pass and the rush.

Starting left tackle David Bakhtiari missed most of the year and the playoff loss, but he was not the only issue up front. If Green Bay is going to take that final step and earn Aaron Rodgers a second Super Bowl title, they need to re-work the line. With the current cap issues, it likely will not be in free agency.

That means the Packers will need to draft offensive lineman early and often. If they hit on one or two of them, they might just pull it off.
