The Green Bay Packers made superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers a very rich man this week. After a lot of back and forth between the two sides, the team inked Rodgers to a four-year contract extension worth $135 million, and the deal has sparked a lot of reaction around the league and from Packers legend, Brett Favre.
Favre, who was Rodgers' predecessor, recently spoke to TMZ Sports about Rodgers signing the historic extension with his former team. Not only does Favre believe that his successor is worth every penny he's set to earn with the new deal, but the Hall of Famer also thinks Rodgers is among the five best players to ever play the game.
“I think when it's all said and done, he's a top 5 player, all time — regardless of position,” Favre says. “Quite frankly, he could be there right now.”
Although many believed the star quarterbacks didn't like each other that much during their time together in Green Bay, Favre said the current face of the Packers franchise came to visit him in Mississippi recently. Rodgers let him know he wants to fill his shoes, but Favre believes he's well beyond that at this point.

“I said, ‘I appreciate that, but you've kind of paved your own way and continue to pave it.'”
With Rodgers now the highest-paid player in the NFL, the pressure is on moving forward for the two-time NFL MVP. The Packers are coming off a disappointing 2017 campaign in which the team missed the playoffs because Rodgers was injured early in the season and was unable to save the team when he returned in the final weeks of the year.
Green Bay is expected to be a heavyweight in the NFC once again with Rodgers now healthy and finally having signed the lucrative extension.
