Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are hoping to get back into playoff contention in 2019 after missing the playoffs for the second straight season last year. It was a rough season that saw the Packers struggle with inconsistency all year long and also saw head coach Mike McCarthy lose his job.
Now, the Packers are led by a young offensive-minded Matt LaFleur and have beefed up their defense in free agency.
The Packers' general manager, Brian Gutekunst, made it clear what the focus was this offseason in free agency. He went out and spent big money to bring in defensive playmakers. Adrian Amos, Za'Darius Smith, and Preston Smith are all expected to be major playmakers for Green Bay.
Despite the major additions, CBS Sports doesn't see big things for Green Bay in 2019. In fact, they are only projecting the team to win nine games, as shared by 247 Sports.
Article Continues BelowAccording to CBS SportsLine, the Packers are projected to win 7.9 games in 2019. The Packers are also projected to finish the year in third place in the NFC North behind the Minnesota Vikings and the defending NFC North champions, the Chicago Bears.
Green Bay will use that as extra motivation for the upcoming season. They may be counted out already, but they certainly believe that they will get back to the winnings ways of the proud franchise.
It will be interesting to see what kind of season the Packers can put together. LaFleur will be implementing a completely new offense, while defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is ready to keep the defense progressing.
Only time will tell what kind of season lies in wait for Green Bay in 2019, but eight wins is certainly not where the team wants to finish.
