Upon recently ranking the league's quarterbacks by tier, The Athletic probably won't have too many arguments from readers regarding the top of its list. Coming as no surprise, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers found himself atop such a list while one coach from around the league even compared the veteran signal-caller to current Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James.

Of course, James — alongside legendary Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan — is considered not only one of the best basketball players of his time, but of all time.

With that in mind, this is some serious praise being heaped upon a future Pro Football Hall of Famer in Rodgers.

“Debating whether Rodgers is in the top tier is the equivalent of asking whether LeBron James is the best basketball player,” one NFL defensive backs coach recently told The Athletic, “because he is just so gifted with some of his abilities, and there is no way you can say a Matt Ryan is better even though there could be some years statistically where a case can be made.”

The Packers have notably won one Super Bowl title under the direction of Rodgers while his new NBA counterpart in James has won three titles along the way.

Unlike James, though, Rodgers has spent his entire professional playing career in Green Bay as a member of the Packers.

James, on the other hand, has suited up for the Cleveland Cavaliers on two separate occasions in addition to playing for both the Miami Heat and aforementioned Lakers.
