Expectations are high for the Green Bay Packers after the team was ranked fifth in ESPN's way-too-early power rankings for the 2020 season.

After going 6-9-1 in 2018, the Packers bounced back with a 13-3 record which was a three-way tie for the best record in the NFC. Green Bay is expected to replicate that kind of success in 2020 as ESPN has the team behind only the Kansas City Chiefs, San Fransisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints.

ESPN references Packers head coach Matt LaFleur who was quite successful in his first year in Green Bay. While it had its moments last season, the Packers offense would stall out at times. ESPN is predicting an offensive improvement for the Packers in year number two with LaFleur at the helm.

Green Bay's season would eventually end when they lost 37-20 to the eventual runner-up 49ers. Still, the Packers will have star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, top talent at receiver and running back with Davanate Adams and Aaron Jones while still having a defense that made major strides in 2019.

While it is entirely too early to accurately predict the success of teams for a season that won't officially start until next September, the Packers are still thought of as one of the NFL's top teams going into 2020.

The Kansas City Chiefs, of course, come in at number one in the power rankings as they, after Sunday's 31-20 win, are the defending champions.

As for the NFC North, the Minnesota Vikings come in at number nine, the Chicago Bears at 18 and the Detroit Lions at 30.
