When you think of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, Jaire Alexander is probably not someone who will pop into your head, but he may be ready to start climbing those lists very soon.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Green Bay Packers youngster was a real pain to throw around this past season, as he contested 36.7 percent of the passes thrown his way, the most in the NFL.

Alexander played in 13 games during his rookie campaign, finishing with 66 tackles, half of a sack, an interception, a couple of fumble recoveries, and 11 passes defended.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Louisville, was originally selected by the Packers in the first round (18th pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played three seasons at Louisville, and during his junior year with the school, he appeared in just six contests due to injury issues, totaling 19 tackles, an interception, and four passes defended.

However, during his sophomore campaign, Alexander was a ball hawk, registering 39 tackles, five picks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and nine passes defended.

Given that the Packers are in some desperate need of improvement on the defensive side of the ball, Alexander may end up being a major blessing in Green Bay's secondary.

The Packers went just 6-9-1 this past year, marking the first time since 2006 that the franchise missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. In 2017, Green Bay won just seven games, largely due to the fact that Aaron Rodgers missed most of the campaign with a broken collarbone.
