Kevin King doesn't exactly have a proven track record of success in the NFL. Injuries have limited 2017 second-round pick to just 15 games of his first two seasons, leading many to wonder whether the Green Bay Packers cornerback would ever earn a lasting clean bill of health.

Fortunately, King took the biggest necessary step toward achieving that goal on Sunday, returning from a hamstring injury to practice with his team for the first time since early August. Despite more time away from the game, he insisted he wasn't rusty as the Packers' regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on Thursday quickly approaches.

“Am I rusty?” King said, per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. “Nah, I ain’t rusty. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. I ain’t rusty.”

Green Bay has given no indication that King will play against Chicago. He entered training camp as the team's No. 2 cornerback behind Jaire Alexander, but several other defensive backs impressed the coaching staff throughout the preseason, leading to speculation that King wouldn't be rushed back to the field before he was ready to play from both physical and mental perspectives.

The 24-year-old, however, expressed no doubt as to whether he would play a significant role against the Packers' longtime rivals.

“It’s the first game of the year. I’m gonna be out there,” he said. “That’s what we want. That’s what everybody wants. That’s what we got.”

King suffered a hamstring injury on August 4, the same one that caused him to be placed on injured reserve late last season. He's started 11 games in his career to date, totaling 45 tackles, one interceptions, and seven passes defensed.
