The Green Bay Packers held on late once again on Christmas Day to beat the Cleveland Browns, 24-22. The win improved the Packers' record to 12-3, best in the NFL. However, things have got really close lately. The last two games saw the Packers almost blow double-digit second-half leads. They have been very aggressive early in games, but have struggled to put teams away.

The Baltimore Ravens scored a touchdown with seconds remaining and went for a 2-point conversion and the win two weeks ago. The conversion failed, but it can't be overlooked that a 14-point lead almost diminished. Then on Christmas Day, Green Bay once again built a double-digit lead. Yet, Baker Mayfield and the Browns had the ball near midfield with a minute left, trailing by only two points. A couple better throws from Mayfield and the Packers might have let that game get away as well.

While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers discussed the aggressiveness early in last week's game:

Rodgers was surprised when head coach Matt LaFleur decided to go for it on the opening possession, a fourth-and-1 from their own 34-yard line. They picked up the first down. Rodgers loved the call, and the aggression. But he pointed out that he thinks the team needs to be more aggressive late in games as well:

“The call itself was absolutely genius and I love being aggressive. … The fact to go for it, I loved it. We need to be aggressive. I think we could have been more aggressive at times during the second half, let's put teams away.”

That speaks exactly to the fact that the Packers, despite their record, have struggled to finish games. It works against the Browns and Ravens without Lamar Jackson. But in the playoffs, it's not likely to keep working.
