There had been some concern surrounding Green Bay Packers veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb regarding his health as he was seen wearing a walking boot on his right foot earlier this offseason.
However, these issues have dwindled down as head coach Mike McCarthy voiced on Friday morning that Cobb doesn't appear to be limited in any manner on the practice field, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.
There doesn't appear to be any limitations on WR Randall Cobb, who had been seen wearing a boot on his right right foot/ankle this summer. “Randall Cobb looks great,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. “The first play where the ball goes deep to Randall, I think that tells you about his health status.”
Whatever the lingering health problem that Cobb was previously dealing with concerning his ankle to have healed entirely in the last few weeks since the end of mandatory OTAs last month. This is an encouraging sign as he's expected to take up a more significant role in the passing game following the departure of Jordy Nelson earlier this offseason.
Cobb's production has taken a notable dip over the last three years after a breakout 2014 season as he has notched fewer than 70 catches and 660 receiving yards in each of the past two campaigns. Injuries have played a part in his lack of standout production, but he has a chance to firmly secure his long-term future with the Packers if he can step up in an increased role in the passing game as one of Aaron Rodgers' primary targets.
The 27-year-old is in the last year of his four-year, $40 million deal that he will make $12.7 million for the 2018 season. There is an opportunity for him to finally get back on track to perform at a high level that could see him put up a career-best campaign in 2018.
