Could Aaron Rodgers be in his final days as quarterback of the Green Bay Packers?

It sounds unthinkable, but Matt Schneidman of The Athletic thinks that Rodgers is in his final contract with the Packers and that Green Bay could spend a first-round draft pick on a signal-caller as soon as 2021.

Of course, Rodgers is under contract through 2023, so if he maintains a strong level of play, the Packers could end up getting at least four more seasons out of the 36-year-old.

However, Schneidman makes it seems like Green Bay is already thinking about the future, which may not be a bad idea given the fact that Rodgers, as good as he has been, has shown some clear signs of a decline over the past couple of seasons.

This past year, Rodgers threw for 4,002 yards, 26 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 62 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 95.4.

While he did make the Pro Bowl, Rodgers' passer rating was his lowest since 2015 and his third-worst mark since taking over as Green Bay's full-time starting quarterback in 2008.

Rodgers has also missed an inordinate amount of throws that he generally makes over the last two seasons, and he no longer has the ability to consistently take over games and single-handedly lead his team to victory like he did during his prime.

The Packers won 13 games, captured the NFC North division title and earned a first-round bye this past year, but they ultimately fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
