The Indianapolis Colts are rewarding tight end Jack Doyle for his efforts. On Friday, the team signed the seven-year veteran to a three-year extension, according to his agent, Buddy Baker.

Doyle has called Indianapolis home since the Colts claimed him off of the Tennessee Titans' waivers in 2013. The Western Kentucky product has carved out a role as the team's starting tight end due to his blocking prowess and consistencies as a pass-catcher. Since 2016, he's started in all but two of his games he's played in.

For his career, Doyle has 236 receptions for 2,105 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 2012, while playing all 12 games, the tight end has 36 receptions for 377 yards and four touchdowns. He had a career-year in 2017, when he tallied 80 receptions for 690 yards and four touchdowns in a lost season for the Colts.
The Colts, who sit at 6-6, have relied on Doyle's talents throughout the season. That will carry-over to stretch-run of 2019, as fellow tight end Eric Ebron is now on the injured reserve, running back Marlon Mack has been out since Week 12 with a hand fracture and wide receiver T.Y. Hilton may not return in 2019 as he deals with a lingering calf ailment.
In reaching the extension, the Colts have one of their top offensive options locked up for the foreseeable future. Though perhaps not a household name — in large part due to his receiving numbers — Doyle is an integral part to Frank Reich's offensive scheme as a blocker and “safety valve” receiver, particularly on third-downs.
