The spectacular 2017 NFL season for the Jacksonville Jaguars continues after their clutch win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Divisional Round. They now undoubtedly face their stiffest test of the year in the New England Patriots.

Aside from their elite defense, the Jaguars have another advantage going into their matchup with the Patriots and that is executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin.  As a result, there is speculation that head coach Doug Marrone will go to Coughlin for some tips on how to approach New England in the AFC Championship Game. However, Marrone confirmed that he can not lean on him any more than he already has this season, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk :

“I have leaned on Coach pretty good since day one,” Marrone told reporters on Wednesday. “I don’t think I can lean on him anymore because I’m a big guy. If I lean on him, I hurt him a little. No but honestly, it’s not something that now all of a sudden that they have had success that Coach will get more involved. It’s been the same way from day one when we started working together. When you say have you leaned on him, I’ve leaned on him quite a bit. We’ve worked with each other quite a bit. We’ve worked with each other the same amount of time together and talk about the same things.”

Coughlin notoriously handed the Patriots their only two losses in the Super Bowl since their dynasty started. Oddly enough, Marrone admitted to not having watched Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI.

“I haven’t watched them,” Marrone said of the two wins by the Giants over New England. “Seriously. If I’m not in it, I don’t watch it. If I’m not in the Super Bowl, I usually don’t watch it. . . . David Tyree made a great catch though, he’s a Syracuse guy.”

There are very few players and coaches that have managed to get the better of head coach Bill Belichick and star quarterback Tom Brady. However, Coughlin was the only one to beat them on the sport's biggest stage, as he led the New York Giants to two wins against the Pats in the Super Bowl.

That said, it seems he has already become accustomed to giving his two cents on the Jaguars' scheme this year. Coughlin will be looking to go 3-0 against New England in championship games this Sunday.
