The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed linebacker Myles Jack to a four-year, $57 million contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal contains $33 million in guaranteed money and will make Jack the third-highest paid linebacker in the NFL.

Jack, who played his collegiate football at UCLA, was originally selected by the Jaguars in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, but his impact was limited, as he logged just 22 tackles and a half of a sack.

The following year, Jack had a breakout year of sorts, appearing in all 16 contests and registering 90 tackles, a couple of sacks, a pair of fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown, representing a key part of a dominant Jacksonville defense that made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.

He showed even more improvement last year, once again participating in every game and racking up 107 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a defensive score.

The 23-year-old played three seasons at UCLA, missing just about all of his junior year with the Bruins due to injuries. Over the course of his NCAA career, he tallied 178 tackles and 15 tackles for loss.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars are coming off of a thoroughly disappointing 2018 campaign in which they won just five games, one year after coming within a quarter of making it to the Super Bowl.

Jacksonville is looking for some redemption in 2019 and will open up its regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.
