There were some who felt that Jalen Ramsey may have played his last game with the Jacksonville Jaguars after a sideline confrontation with head coach Doug Marrone last week, but that apparently was not the case.
Ramsey suited up for the Jaguars' AFC South showdown with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night and helped Jacksonville emerge with a 20-7 win, marking the club's first victory of the season.
The 24-year-old demanded a trade after last week's loss to the Houston Texans, and after the Jags' win over Titans, Ramsey was questioned about his trade request.
Naturally, he wasn't having any of it:
“I don't want to answer any questions about a trade or anything like that either,” Ramsey said, according to Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com. “I've said what I've had to say about that for now.”
Before the game, however, Ramsey extrapolated on his trade demand and was not backing off of it:
“Some disrespectful things were said on their end that made me definitely walk out and call my agent as soon as I walked out,” Ramsey said. “I told him, I said, ‘It's time. My time is up here in Jacksonville.' I said, ‘I want to ask for a trade.' I was truly at peace like I wasn't in a mindset of making a decision while I was angry. I was completely calm. I still stand by that decision, asking for trade.”
The Jaguars are said to be seeking a couple of first-round picks in exchange for Ramsey, with the Kansas City Chiefs surfacing as a possible suitor.
Ramsey has made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances, including a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2017.
