Houston Texans fans have bitter memories of Bill O'Brien's stint as the team's head coach. Now, the current offensive coordinator of the Alabama Crimson Tide is seemingly making headway in his attempt to get back to coaching in the big league. But if you ask FOX Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe, O'Brien shouldn't be given a chance to become a bench boss by the Jacksonville Jaguars — or any NFL team ever again.
Trading D. Hopkins for David Johnson should disqualify him from being a hd coach in the NFL https://t.co/aSUI3nsNJm

A head-coaching gig has opened up in Jacksonville following the organization's firing of Urban Meyer, and O'Brien has emerged as a potential candidate.
Under O'Brien, the Texans experienced some highs and lows. They made the playoffs four times during his tenure in Houston but the team did not progress past the divisional round in any of those seasons. At the time, the Texans had JJ Watt in his absolute prime and talented wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in March 2020 for running back David Johnson and some picks. That trade is regarded to this day as one of the most lopsided ones in the NFL in recent memory. While Hopkins blossomed in Arizona, Johnson has barely contributed to the Texans.
Still, the Jaguars clearly certainly want to take a look at O'Brien. But before his interview with Jacksonville, O'Brien's main focus is to help Alabama win the National Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs on Monday.
