Trevor Lawrence's rookie season with the Jacksonville Jaguars has been nothing short of a disaster. Luckily, the fan base is showing patience with their young signal-caller. Instead of attributing the team's struggles to Lawrence, the fanbase has gone full attack mode on owner Shad Khan and GM Trent Baalke, who were behind the infamous hiring of Urban Meyer. Lawrence is still considered the future in Jacksonville, and he issued a statement on Wednesday to reassure fans that things are going to get better.

His statement should be a firm reminder to fans however that this is a young team, with a young quarterback, and things are almost certain to get better. It would be nearly impossible to have as disastrous a season as the Jaguars have had in 2021. Amid the firing of Urban Meyer — which was a whole debacle in and of itself — Lawrence's struggles, and the fanbase's refueled disdain for Khan and Baalke, there was scarcely a moment the Jaguars didn't feel like a dumpster fire.
In 2021, Lawrence completed just 58.9% of his pass attempts, throwing for 3,418 yards, 10 touchdown passes, and a league-high 17 interceptions. An encouraging message from the quarterback won't change everything, but it's a genuine attempt from Lawrence to start to implement change and head in the path the fanbase wants the franchise to be on.
