Even though the Oakland Raiders are going through a terrible season, Derek Carr has tried to stay positive and upbeat. He usually has a smile on his face, is always trying to be positive in his postgame messages and is always encouraging his teammates. There have been a lot of questions if he is too nice, and if he needs to start spreading a different message as the leader of this team.

Carr doesn't care what the rest of the world has to say about his style and even if people don't like it, he's going to continue to be himself.

“The too-nice thing has followed me since high school and college,” Carr told The Athletic last Wednesday. “From people on the outside. Because when I put my helmet on, my dad always said, I am such a different person. Not a mean guy or anything like that, but he said I was so competitive and so fiery … Even when I am just working out or practicing, I am talking trash, but people don’t see those things from the outside …

“So I have definitely heard it …”

Carr wants it to be known that even though he comes across the nice guy he is also ultra competitive and he doesn't want his smile to be confused with a guy who doesn't care about winning.

The Raiders have had a terrible season, and a big reason has been Carr's struggles. He has only thrown for 2,827 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Oakland is going to have some big decisions to make this offseason, including deciding if Carr is the right guy to lead them.
