The Oakland Raiders are set to host their final home game at the Coliseum versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Fortunately, it seems running back Josh Jacobs will be good to go.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Jacobs is active against the Jaguars:
Raiders’ RB Josh Jacobs officially active today.
This is certainly an encouraging sign for the Raiders' chances to go out with a bang. Although the 2019 NFL season may have been somewhat anticlimactic, they are now set to give fans in Oakland one more good show before relocating to Las Vegas.
Jacobs' absence was heavily felt during the 42-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 14. He has easily established himself as the central force of this offense as well as arguably the best rookie in the entire league. Despite his reported pleas to play through the lingering shoulder injury, head coach Jon Gruden opted to take a cautious approach by sitting him out.
Of course, Gruden has been adamant about ending things on a high note in Oakland and indicated that he would be holding out hope for Jacobs' return. It appears the young workhorse was able to make enough progress in his recovery to get cleared leading up to game time.
While Jacobs may be active, it remains to be seen if he will take on his usual heavy workload in the offense since he is still at less than 100 percent. It will be interesting to see if Gruden's desire to put on a good show outweighs the risk involved in having him touch the ball more than 20 times.
