Running backs are well known for always coming to the defense of their quarterbacks, whether on or off the field. And this is well the case with the Las Vegas Raiders duo of Josh Jacobs and Derek Carr.

Even as Carr has continued to garner criticism over the past couple of seasons for his often sluggish play, Jacobs has always been there defending his quarterback. Even on Twitter, Jacobs claps back against fans who do not support the three-time Pro Bowler.

In a recent interview with the NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano and James Jones during Raiders training camp, Jacobs once again defended Carr, where he disagreed with the notion that the Raiders star is one of the more “hated” quarterbacks in the NFL today.

“I feel like he's one of the most hated quarterbacks for no reason,” Jacobs said. “I have no idea. If you ever meet the guy, he is one of the nicest guys that you will ever meet. He is a good dude, a good father. Like the white-collar guy that you look up to.

“It has definitely been huge for me to see his ups and downs going throughout his career and seeing how things have been going since his injury.”

Carr is coming off of one roller-coaster season with the Raiders. After a strong start where he led the team to a 6-3 record to go along with 16 passing touchdowns recorded over its opening nine games, the Raiders still collapsed in the second half of the season as their 2-5 finish saw them miss out on the playoffs once again.

At the least, Carr's late-season resilience sure did earn the approval of his teammates, as he played in the Raiders' Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins just a week after suffering a notable groin injury.

Even as he has the backing of Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, Carr heads into the upcoming season with hefty expectations to at the least lead the team to a winning record.
