In the weeks that have followed Derek Carr's injury in the Week 4 loss to the Denver Broncos, there has been a building narrative that the Raiders offensive line allowed for that happen because of his unwillingness to kneel during the national anthem.
This all hit a head on Tuesday after Miko Grimes, who is the wife of veteran cornerback Brent Grimes of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, voiced that during an interview on the Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM. It didn't take long for a few Raiders players to shoot down the allegations.
I also got a text from a Raiders offensive player "please don't ask me for a response to dumb stories. Derek is our guy" #Raiders

With a few of the players coming out on social media against this story does take much of the steam out of the validity of it all. There is no clear way of proving that this was indeed the case that it occurred during the Week 4 action against the Broncos.
It is simply an extremely difficult task to prove that the Raiders decided to go that route because of internal conflict over their stance on kneeling during the national anthem. Oakland was one of the first few teams that had participated in that this season.
What is also something to note is that if this is the first time it has truly leaked out, it's hard to believe that many other reporters who cover the team haven't caught wind of the story beforehand in the weeks that followed. There are simply too many variables at play here that make it hard to take this as a truth at this point.
