Following a disappointing 2017 season, the Oakland Raiders have begun to undergo a few major changes to shake things up.
One of these moves could come in the offseason with the expected release of veteran wide receiver Michael Crabtree. According to Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News, this could lead to the team making a push to sign Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry in free agency.

With Michael Crabtree on the outs, new coach Jon Gruden should look at Landry as a reliable possession type for Derek Carr. The QB and Landry would be a perfect fit in the short passing game. With Seth Roberts, Oakland has had a blip in the slot. With Landry, it can blast off at the position.”
All of this hinges upon the premise that Landry doesn't get the franchise tag placed on him by the Miami Dolphins before the start of free agency. The Dolphins will have between Feb. 20 to March 6 to make the decision if they want to use that designation on the 25-year-old. Landry has already made it clear that he has interest in a return to Miami, but doesn't plan on giving a hometown discount.
If he does become a free agent, the Raiders could see themselves realistically in the mix for his services. They have the appeal of playing with rising star quarterback Derek Carr alongside Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper that could potentially form a potent duo in the passing game.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens could also figure in the equation given that they had attempted to trade for Landry prior to the 2017 season and once again before the trade deadline. There was also the recent public push via social media by Ravens safeties Eric Weddle and Tony Jefferson to join them in the offseason. Nonetheless, it's clear that Landry will have several options in front of him.
