There was some hope that Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry would play against the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs on Saturday night, but Chargers fans will need to temper their enthusiasm on that one.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chargers will not be activating Henry from the physically unable to perform list, meaning he will not be available against the Ravens.
Should Los Angeles defeat Baltimore, things might change going forward, but as of right now, Henry is out.
Henry tore his ACL back in May and has missed the entire 2018 campaign.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected by the Chargers in the second round (35th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Article Continues BelowHe had a solid rookie campaign, hauling in 36 receptions for 478 yards and eight touchdowns. Then the following year, Henry caught 45 passes for 579 yards and four scores.
The good news for Los Angeles is that its offense is pretty solid even without Henry, as it ranked 11th in the league in total yards and was tied for sixth in points per game this season. Still, getting Henry back would obviously be a pretty nice boost.
The Bolts won 12 games this season and are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2013. This also represents only their second playoff appearance since 2009.
In spite of the fact that Los Angeles was tied for the best record in the AFC this year, it had to settle for a Wild Card berth, as the Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West with the same 12-4 record by way of the tiebreaker.
