There has been plenty of speculation regarding tight end Hunter Henry's status for this week's Wild Card showdown versus the Baltimore Ravens. It appears the coaching staff is rather optimistic about his ability to take part in Sunday's game.

Henry has spent the entire 2018 NFL season recovering from a torn ACL he suffered early in the offseason. According to Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register, head coach Anthony Lynn indicated that even if he does play, he will see limited action.

Anthony Lynn said he expects to make a decision on Hunter Henry’s playing status tomorrow. “He’ll definitely be on a pitch count,” Lynn said if Henry plays against the Ravens

The update on Henry certainly comes as a bit of a surprise. Players are usually slated to miss an entire season before being able to return from an ACL injury. However, Lynn's comments indicate that he could very well suit up against Baltimore.

The Chargers will undoubtedly need all the help they can get against this formidable Ravens defense. Baltimore managed to hold their high-powered offense to a season-low 10 points back in Week 16. Two weeks is not much time for Los Angeles to make some heavy adjustments. Regardless, they will need to find a way to put points on the board if they hope to keep their season going.

There was plenty of hype surrounding the emergence of Henry prior to the season after finishing the 2017 campaign with 45 receptions for 579 yards and four touchdowns. It is no secret that quarterback Philip Rivers likes to utilize his tight ends heavily in the passing game. Henry's return will give him much-needed firepower against Baltimore, even if it is only for a few plays.
