The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off of a huge road win over the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday night that saw Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen suffer a hip pointer injury.
In the days that followed, there has been some level of uncertainty regarding Allen's availability for this week's game against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Allen has taken a step in the right direction with his limited participation in Wednesday's practice.
Chargers receiver Keenan Allen returned to practice Wednesday.
Although Allen was limited, it was a step in the right direction.
This is an encouraging step forward for Allen as this should put him on track to be able to play against the Ravens. He had suffered the injury in the first half against the Chiefs after he attempted to make a catch in the end zone that saw him land directly on his hip. He was seen grabbing his hip immediately after the play and was subbed out of the game.
Allen was unable to return to action for the rest of the game as he finished the contest with no targets as the lone ball thrown his way was erased with a defensive holding that was called on the play.
He has been the Chargers' primary target in the passing game throughout this season, as he has 88 catches for 1,074 yards and six touchdowns this season. He has notched three games with more than 100 receiving yards along with notching at least five catches in all but three games this season. This season has also marked his third 1,000 receiving yard campaign of his career.
This is still a fluid situation, but things appear to be moving in the right direction for Allen to be able to take the field for this week's action.
