With just a few weeks until training camp, Melvin Gordon has thrown a little hiccup in the Los Angeles Chargers plans by announcing he is ready to hold out and demand a trade if the two sides can't reach a long term deal. Gordon's agent Damarius Bilbo told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network they are ready to make this a prolonged holdout, and it could extend into the regular season.

“But we want to focus on getting something done before training camp. There’s a long way to go to Week 1,” Bilbo added.

If Gordon were to miss the regular season, it could get costly quick, losing $330,000 a week which is 1/17th of his guaranteed salary for the season.

The goal is still to get something done before training camp, but it's unclear how much money they are willing to shell out for Gordon.

Gordon missed four games last season, and the team was still able to win each of the games. Austin Ekeler is Gordon's primary backup, and he has proven to be a solid running back, and there is a chance he could be a very good primary back if given an opportunity.

Last season Ekeler rushed 106 times for 554 yards and three touchdowns. By all accounts, the coaching staff has been impressed with him, and he has gotten the first-team reps this off-season.

There are still a lot of moving parts with this story, and it's developing but look for this to be a big storyline heading into the season if it's not resolved.
