Although Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Melvin Ingram is in attendance at training camp, he has largely been a non-participant from practice due to a contract dispute. Fortunately, it appears both sides found a short-term solution for the 2020 NFL season.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Ingram is now back at practice after signing a deal that guarantees his salary for this season:

Ingram saw his fellow edge rusher Joey Bosa sign a lucrative five-year, $135 million extension this offseason. While there is no question that Bosa was certainly more than deserving, something had to give for the other half of this stellar pass-rushing tandem. After all, he is coming off a fifth consecutive year where he managed to tally at least seven sacks.
Ingram is entering the final season of the four-year, $64 million deal he signed back in 2017. His actions this offseason indicate that he will be looking for another payday at the end of the season. The onus will fall on the Chargers to determine whether or not they intend to keep this edge duo intact for the long haul.
For now, Los Angeles can focus on ushering in a new era at SoFi Stadium in style to begin the 2020 campaign. The defense will need to be an area of strength while the offense finds its footing under center.
