The NFL season is still more than four months away and we have some heat in one of the better, more underrated rivalries developing in the NFL.

Because of Patrick Mahomes’ MVP season and the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs were the No 1 seed last year, some folks may forget that the Los Angeles Chargers actually were tied atop the AFC West division with Kansas City. Both teams were 12-4 in 2019. Yet, Kansas City was awarded the division championship based on a tiebreaker Both teams beat each other last season.

This season should offer more of the same. Both the Chiefs and the Chargers are expected to be among the best teams in the AFC in 2019.

And it’s already getting a bit chippy. Speaking to local media this week, standout Chargers’ wide receiver Keenan Allen couldn’t resist taking a little shot at the Chiefs, who have had much defensive turnover this season.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, this is what Allen said about the Chiefs’ defense: “Since you asked, it was brought up today in the locker room,” Allen said. “We just looked at their DB (defensive back) group, and I’ll just leave it at that. We’ve seen it.”

Shots fired.

Circle this date: November 18. It’s the first time these two teams play in 2019. Surely, Allen’s comments will eb brought up again then.
