Ryan Leaf has recently made some progress in cleaning his image, but it appears he's fallen back into what caused him issues in the NFL. On Friday, the former No. 2 pick in the 1998 NFL Draft was arrested for domestic battery.
The arrest for Leaf occurred in Palm Springs, California and his bail was set for $5,000. It remains to be seen if Leaf was under the influence of any substances when he was arrested by police on Friday.
Back in 1998, Leaf began his career in the NFL as the No. 2 pick in the draft by the Los Angeles Chargers (they were located in San Diego when he was drafted). Prior to the draft, there were some discussions on whether or not the Indianapolis Colts should select Peyton Manning or Leaf with the No. 1 pick. It's safe to say the Colts made the right choice in taking Manning.

Over the course of those 18 starts, the Washington State product threw for 3,172 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 33 interceptions. Despite being talented in college, he was unable to translate his game to the NFL.
In addition, Leaf battled with personal problems in his career, admitting that he had an addiction to prescription pain medication. Not to mention, he was arrested multiple times for burglary and drug charges, last spending time in prison in 2014.
In recent years, Leaf cleaned up his act and was a motivational speaker and joined ESPN in 2019 to be a college football analyst. While some people will joke about his recent arrest, hopefully Leaf can get the help he needs.
