Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley missed his team's season finale against the San Francisco 49ers last week as a result of a knee issue, but he is feeling much better at this point, according to Myles Simmons of the Rams' official team website.
“I’m feeling better. I’m feeling good this week,” said Gurley. “Just trying to be on the field next week.”
Gurley originally sustained the knee injury during the Rams' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago and has been working hard to get himself back on the gridiron:
“Just mostly the morning sessions, try to knock out my rehab stuff. And then the stuff that I do with the team, as far as like weight-room wise. And then when those guys are at practice, I’m trying to do cardio,” Gurley said. “So that’s been my biggest emphasis since I wasn’t able to play the last two weeks — just trying to get my cardio back.”
Gurley also added that he has been “able to do a lot more this week” and that his knee has been “reacting pretty good.”
On the year, Gurley has rushed for 1,251 yards and a league-leading 17 touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry. In addition, he has hauled in 59 receptions for 580 yards and four scores en route to his second straight Pro Bowl selection.
The 24-year-old has made three trips to Honolulu in his career, including one First-Team All-Pro selection in 2017 as a result of racking up 1,305 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns on the ground.
The Rams won 12 games and captured the NFC West title this year and earned a first-round bye in the playoffs.
