Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase made wide receiver DeVante Parker inactive for their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. That move was somewhat surprising since Parker was a full participant in practice following his recent injury troubles which have limited him to just two games thus far this season.

Gase’s decision certainly did not sit well with Parker’s agent, Jimmy Gould, who put the Dolphins coach on blast.

“I find the decision to make DeVante inactive today by Coach Gaze (sic) incompetent and insulting,” Gould said in a statement obtained by Tom Pelissero (per Jeremy Berman of NFL.com). “It's also just not true and I am sick of hearing him say my player is not healthy. This is the third game this year that DeVante should have played in when you include the Jets and [New England]. DeVante is healthy and with injuries and [the Dolphins'] 6.1 [YPC], DeVante could have and should have been allowed to contribute.

“What a horrific decision by Coach Gaze (sic) and he needs to take a very long look in the mirror and make himself inactive.”

The Dolphins have reportedly put Parker on the trading block, with the Eagles and Cowboys reportedly showing interest in his services.

Parker, the 14th overall pick in the 2015 draft, has not lived up to his lofty draft status in Miami. In his three-plus seasons with the Dolphins, he has put up just 141 catches for 1,948 yards and eight touchdowns.

This latest incident between Gould and Gase likely doesn’t bode well for Parker’s future with the Dolphins. One way or another, it seems like the talented wideout’s days in South Beach are numbered.
