Miami Dolphins running back Frank Gore is out for the remainder of the regular season with a foot injury, but the veteran is not giving up on returning to the Dolphins next season, according to Safid Deen of The South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

“The goal is to come back one more year,” said Gore. “I’ll see who wants me. Hopefully the Dolphins can re-sign me — that would be big. But you know how the business goes.”

Gore signed with Miami back in March.

In 14 games this season, the 35-year-old rushed for 722 yards before exiting the Dolphins' loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week with the foot injury.

“I wanted to reach 1,000 yards, and I wanted to try to reach the playoffs with my teammates.”

Sounds like Gore still has some unfinished business to take care of.

Gore, who played his collegiate football at the University of Miami, was originally selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round (65th pick overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.

He had a quiet rookie campaign, rushing for 608 yards and three touchdowns, but he broke out during his second season, racking up 1,695 yards and eight scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Gore spent the first 10 years of his NFL career with the 49ers, tallying 1,000 yards eight times and making five trips to Honolulu.

He then signed with the Indianapolis Colts in March 2015, but by then, Gore was starting to tail off, as he averaged under four yards per attempt in all three of his seasons in Indianapolis.
