Adam Thielen's paycheck will finally match his production. The two-time Pro Bowler announced though his agency on Friday that he has agreed to a four-year, $64 million extension with the Minnesota Vikings, a deal that could reach $74 million with incentives.

Thielen has desired a new contract since last offseason, when his rapid development into one of the NFL's best wide receivers also made him one of its best financial bargains. He signed a three-year, $27 million extension that includes $11 million in guarantees back in March 2017, after a breakout season in which he led the Vikings with 967 receiving yards. He’s only further established himself as a star in the interim, finishing 2018 with career-highs of 113 catches, 1,373 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns during his fifth NFL season.

Despite the relatively slow nature of extension negotiations, no big-picture discord ever developed between Thielen and Minnesota. In fact, his agent, Blake Baratz, insisted back in February that the Vikings were conducting contract discussions from a place of good faith.

“This team has had a lot of really good things in place for it,” he said during a radio appearance on SKOR North. :And I know they want to take care of Adam and I know they want Adam there and I know they want to reward Adam and what exactly that looks like and when it happens I can't speak to you, but I'm cautiously optimistic that everyone will come around and do the right thing.

“No one's being greedy,” he continued. “Everyone understands the situation and it's really in their court. I mean, he has a couple years left on his deal. He's earned a significant pay raise.”

Thielen, 28, grew up in Detroit Lakes, MN, and played college football at Division II's Minnesota State Mankato.
