When the Minnesota Vikings selected Kellen Mond in the 2021 NFL Draft some folk had to wonder about the future of gunslinger Kirk Cousins. After all, it's not as if Minnesota was selecting Mond to just waste a roster spot.
The good news for Cousins is that Mond is a few years away from being a few years away. Also, ugh… he wants to basically be Vikings veteran Kirk Cousins.
“Being able to watch Kirk on certain cutups,” Vikings rookie Kellen Mond said.” Really enjoy watching his execution, his footwork, just watching how he’s able to go through reads and pretty much master the offense. The more I watch him, the more I’m able to mimic his footwork, his cadence, which is huge in the NFL. There’s so many things I need to learn, but I feel like I’m in a phenomenal organization with phenomenal talent and obviously can’t wait to get to work with Kirk also.”
I was unaware young quarterbacks wanted to grow up to be Kirk Cousins, but apparently Kellen Mond is just built different.
No one is expecting the rookie to take the veteran's job anytime soon. That being said, who knows what awaits for the Vikings in the 2021 National Football League season.
