Tom Brady and the New England Patriots made noise last season with another Super Bowl win. Despite all of the critics talking about age and regression, Brady and company played a great season and made an impressive run in the playoffs. They were able to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs and also completely eliminated the Los Angeles Rams' offense in the Super Bowl.
Now, the Patriots are heading into the 2019 season looking to prove the doubters wrong once again. They lost some key pieces this offseason in Trey Flowers, Rob Gronkowski, and Trent Brown, but added talent in Michael Bennett and first-round rookie wide receiver N'Keal Harry.
Replacing Gronkowski is not going to be an easy task for the Patriots. He has been a superstar for years and was Brady's favorite target. The pressure will be on Julian Edelman and Harry to step up big-time for the offense.
Looking at the schedule, the Patriots will have their work cut out for them. They have some very tough opponents to face and the AFC is getting a lot better around them.
All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at the three most important games on the schedule for New England.
3. Week 3 vs. the New York Jets
First up, the Patriots saw the Jets go out in free agency and spend big to get back into contention. New York was able to land superstar running back Le'Veon Bell and they also signed star linebacker C.J. Mosley. Quinnen Williams was a massive addition to the defensive line in the NFL Draft.
New England has run the AFC East division for a long time, but the Jets have other plans. Getting this test out of the way early in the season will be good for the Patriots. They need to set the tone for the division with a big win.
