That he got another substantial payday after his tumultuous tenure with the Oakland Raiders came to a close.

The haste with which Brown signed in New England was not dissimilar from the rapid dissolution of his seemingly repaired relationship with the Raiders.

After word spread on Friday that Oakland was  going to release him in wake of Brown posting notice of his fine from the club on Instagram, things quickly took a turn for the better. He reportedly apologized to his teammates at a meeting, with captains like Derek Carr flanking him, leading Jon Gruden to tell reporters that the superstar wide receiver would indeed play in the season-opener on Monday night. Brown subsequently posted a video on social media featuring a phone call between he and the Raiders’ coach, another sign that player and team were moving on.

Obviously, that turned out not to be the case. We'll soon find out if Brown's tenure with the Patriots goes any better – and maybe how Bill Belichick feels about his latest post on social media.
