The New England Patriots could have pulled off quite a trade just a couple weeks ago as talk emerged that they were in on wide receiver Antonio Brown. The Pittsburgh Steelers made it clear they would not trade Brown to a division rival team nor did they want trade him to an AFC team, so it's likely the Patriots were not on their radar for the most part. Although Brown was traded to the Oakland Raiders, they are no where near the team the Patriots are in regards to level of competition, as long as Tom Brady remains unretired.
Brown and sports agent Drew Rosenhaus spoke regarding possible trade scenarios on “The Boomin Experience Podcast,” in which they were recorded on March 5th. Brown was traded a few days later.

Brown: “That would be an honor.”
Rosenhaus: “They won't tell me exactly what they'll willing to offer, but I have a feeling it's going to be very lucrative for us.”
Brown: “That going to be amazing.”
Rosenhaus: “And I don't think we'll have any problem getting a deal done with these guys.”
Brown: “Yeah, we need that respect, that guarantee. Robert Kraft's a cool guy, too.”
Rosenhaus: “Kraft is one of the wealthiest guys in the NFL, AB.”
Brown: “I'll pull up. That would be great, that championship talk.”
The Patriots being a destination for Brown was likely never really a possibility (despite what Rosenhaus told Brown), but the idea of one of the league's best offensive playmakers joining forces with Brady is quite the scenario.
