New England Patriots safety Duron Harmon has put himself in a precarious position after being arrested on Friday in Costa Rica for attempting to bring marijuana back into the United States. This has also created some unnecessary attention around the franchise concerning Harmon's questionable decision.
It was the first off-the-field incident that the veteran safety has been involved with in his NFL career. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the 27-year-old has issued a statement of apology for his actions this past week that caused to be arrested.

Harmon had been detained at the airport by the Fiscal Control Police after his luggage searched and had found a can of soda that he used to carry the drug that was a total of 58 grams along with three pipettes with marijuana oil, one THC confection and four glass containers containing compressed marijuana. Shortly thereafter, he was sent back to the United States following the incident.

Over the years, the NFL has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards actions of this nature from its players.
At this point, there is no clarity as to whether this will impact his standing with the Patriots. Harmon was originally selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Patriots where he has worked his way into a prominent role as a centerpiece in the secondary.
In fact, Harmon had inked a four-year, $17 million extension with the team last year that solidified his place in the team's future plans. In the 2017 season, Harmon played in all 16 regular season games totaling 23 tackles with four interceptions and seven passes defended while helping his team reach a third Super Bowl in the last four years.
